dawn .

i lay on the roof beside him
watching the stars fade
as the sun made its ascent
into the morning sky

and i wondered where you were
and how it was that you became so far from me

i wondered whether i'd ever know you again
the way i once did -
when i could read your glances and your quiet
better than anyone else's voice

i wondered if you could still locate
the star you called by my name,
and still find the one
i picked for you

and as i raced down that rooftop
in the ripeness of the early day
i wondered if one day i could climb onto building-tops
or trace out constellations
without, also, wondering after you

[you, who still rules my heavens.
you, who still rules my heart.]

  1. I wonder if I will one day look beyond 'him' too... 'he' is the one that rules my thoughts and my heart... I doubt it ...

  2. I feel you...
I gave my heart years ago and never got it back... he still owns it... he rules my heart, mind, body and soul... you feel powerless when you have a master that forgot about you, don't you think?

  3. Alkyoni and Shelby nailed it. It's always hard to reclaim hearts. Time is all we have to help us mostly. And your words are helping too :)

  4. lying beyond her
    seeing her crying
    her warm tears
    her moist eyes

    did i do something wrong
    that she left me
    making me wonder
    for my whole life

    that star studded night
    her blistering earrings
    her awing smile
    and red wine

    make me wonder
    why she left
    leaving me aside
    in this strange tribe..!

  5. Ah, I just can't get enough of your writing. I always want to know the stories behind it. It's all so simple and honest and could mean something different for anyone who reads it.

I think this way all of the time about those ghosts, people you used to know so well and are now strangers. It's such a strange adjustment to make.
